Our reach in 2023

• We gave unrestricted funding to 97 charities working in housing and homelessness across England and Wales.
• We funded six Local Collaborations focused on influencing local policy and practice to ensure people facing complex issues have access to suitable accommodation.
• We funded five National Influencing projects focused on improving access to suitable accommodation by influencing policy and practice at a national level.
• We are working with the Great Yarmouth Homelessness Alliance as part of our People and Communities work.
• We also invest in local communities, research and ad hoc projects.

Our impact

• The impact on people including how our funding contributes to the development of new accommodation services, and helps charities adapt to changing needs and adopt co-production approaches.
• The impact on charities including how unrestricted funding allows for flexibility and development support builds the confidence of charity leaders.
• The impact on communities and society including how we are addressing the housing crisis and other challenges through our influencing programmes on a national and local level across England and Wales.

Key findings

• Our strong working relationships are a key strength of our organisation. These relationships help us make an impact, whether they are between the Foundation and charity partners, or between collaborations and the people they serve.
• Our model of providing unrestricted funding alongside development support helps build resilience for charities and the communities they serve.

• Our support, although welcome, is against a backdrop of sustained deterioration in the underlying operating environment and increased demand for charities. We need to manage our expectations for transformative change accordingly.
• The Foundation has ambitions to support more charities led by people with lived experience. Although our charity partners are developing more formal structures for user involvement with people with lived experience, this is slower to emerge in our housing and homelessness portfolio.
