James Phillips Lloyds Bank Foundation Chief Operating Officer & Interim Chief Executive

James is excited to join the Lloyds Bank Foundation as Chief Operating Officer. And looks forward to working to ensure the foundation runs smoothly and is well positioned to deliver its ambitious strategy.

James started his career at PwC as a Chartered Accountant supporting a range of clients across different industries. Whist at PwC he moved into their charities practice where he worked work with some of the UK’s largest and best-known charities, including the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Oxfam and WaterAid. Since 2017 he has worked at Barnardo’s where he has led on large scale change programmes across the charity.

He is motivated by making a positive impact. Outside of work he runs a theatre company (ShakeitUp theatre) which delivers arts-based programmes in prisons and for individuals with complex needs - including in Pentonville Prison, young people with Downs Syndrome in Kent, and people working through addiction in Walthamstow. Through this he has first-hand experience of the transformational impact of small-local charities.
